Calctimate is back

Calctimate 2.0 is now available on the App Store!

It has been a month, you might think it was long and we were really working hard to get it released as soon as possible. Throughout all this time, we would like to thank you all for your messages full of encouragements and especially for your patience. We hope the new version of Calctimate will not disappoint you. Notable changes of the new Calctimate are:

- Changed default theme

- Added ability to compute 0.x numbers without inputing the preceding zero, e.g: .2 * 5 = 1 (instead of inputing 0.2 * 5)

- Fixed bug that cannot computes the log2 function

- Fixed bug that computes incorrectly input with auto-multiply of 1/x, 2^x, 10^x. E.g: 5 [2^x] 3 equals to 40 (instead of equaling to 52^3 in the previous version)

- And a lot of other minor improvements and bug fixes

Get it free on iTunes and stay tuned for our upcoming updates!

A hard decision

It was a very sad day to us! We never expect a bad news in our blog’s entry, especially the first entry ever…

Our Calctimate got many of downloads today, along with many compliments and we want to say a big thanks to all of you. However we also got some feedbacks saying that it is a rip-off from Tapbot. It never is our intention when we only took some inspiration from their well-known and high quality design, as well as some from others. It especially depressed us when Calctimate is said as a “lame” and “stolen” app.

We had been spent a lot of hard-work and dedication to develop Calctimate to be a good app for users, since we have not found any good enough calculator as we expected. There are some with good design but just so basic and lack of functionalities, or vice versa. That’s when we want to build a good combination of those, but unexpectedly we may created a misunderstanding about our original intention. We make no excuses about it.

As we always take users’ feedback seriously, and though it’s painful, we came up to decide:

- Temporarily withdraw the current version of Calctimate from the iTunes App Store.

- Come back with the design work and hopefully Calctimate will soon come back with a better design.

- The upcoming Calctimate will still be free and upcoming functions will still be continuously updated as promised (RPN support, iPad design, input editable, other bases (2,8,16) support, etc).

Thank you for all of your constructive comments and feedback!

See you soon!
